On 9-10 June 2026, the ARTPEACE consortium gathered in Berlin for the project’s official kick-off meeting, marking the start of an ambitious three-year collaboration exploring how arts-based practices can contribute to peacebuilding and the development of more just societies.
Hosted by the Berghof Foundation, ARTPEACE’s coordinating partner, the two-day meeting brought together consortium members from across Europe and beyond to get to know one another, exchange perspectives, align expectations, and establish a shared vision for the work ahead. Combining strategic discussions with practical planning sessions, the meeting laid the foundations for the project’s initial implementation phase, with a particular focus on strengthening collaboration across work packages and developing common approaches from the outset.
The diversity of expertise and perspectives represented within the consortium reflects ARTPEACE’s interdisciplinary character and provides a valuable foundation for collaborative learning, knowledge exchange and innovation throughout the project.
The meeting also benefited greatly from the participation of several members of the project’s Advisory and Participatory Advisory Board (APAB). Their expertise and insights offered valuable guidance on the design of field research activities, ethical considerations, and approaches to policy engagement and societal impact, helping ensure that these dimensions are integrated into the project from its early stages.
As ARTPEACE moves into its first phase of implementation, the consortium looks forward to building a growing network of researchers, artists, peacebuilding practitioners, policymakers, and other stakeholders interested in the transformative potential of the arts. This website will serve as a central hub for sharing project updates, upcoming events, publications, publications and opportunities to engage with ARTPEACE’s activities and findings.
Over the next three years, ARTPEACE will explore how artistic practices can open up new possibilities for peacebuilding in complex and changing societies. We invite you to follow our journey and stay connected through #ARTPEACE as we explore how artistic practices can contribute to peacebuilding in complex and changing societies.
